Buena Vista Community Theatre
Buena Vista Community Theatre was started in it's present form and location in 1991, when the Alta Community School District offered us the use of their historic theatre building, The Roxy. Since that time, we've performed summer, fall, and winter productions. At the present time, heavy use of the Roxy by the Alta Schools allows for only one BVCT production a year.
This summer, we're pleased to announce that our musical staged at the Roxy Theatre in Alta, Iowa will be “CAMELOT”, by special arrangement with Tams-Wittmark Musical Library. Show dates are scheduled for June 25th, 26th, 28th, and 2 shows on June 29th.
This popular musical features King Arthur nervously preparing to meet his new Queen, Guinevere. In order to keep peace and stability in the kingdom, Arthur establishes the Knights of the Round Table. Included amongst these knights is the most famous of all knights, Sir Lancelot. Soon, Lancelot and Queen Guinevere fall in love. Their love is brought public with the help of Arthur's evil illegitimate son Mordred and his aunt, the sorceress Morgan le Fey. As a result, peace ends and war breaks out as Arthur's troops fight Lancelot's French army.
Stage direction for this show will be handled by Glee Crippin, a veteran of both the BVCT stage and A Touch of Broadway traveling group. Lee Thorson will be our music director, while Judy Fells is rehearsal accompanist. We invite all interested to join us for tryouts (May 4th, 2008 & May 11th, 2008 7-9 p.m. at the Roxy in Alta). There are plenty of parts and tasks available; we look forward to seeing you there!
